Thomas Frankland

Resident planter in British Guiana who died in 1833. The executors of Thomas Frankland were awarded the compensation for the Elizabeth Anne estate in British Guiana (much of which they apparently paid away to a group of counterclaimants under a mortgage admittted to have been made by Thomas Frankland in 1829).

1. The will of Thomas Frankland planter of Leguan Island Demerarra [sic] and Essequibo was proved 12/05/1834. After providing freedom for several enslaved people (Harry, to whom he also left 20 joes; Bobby and Colin; Jim Bloor; and Oberture), he left to Lucy, the daughter of Oberture, £100 p.a. until she was 21 and then £1000. He left his brother William £200 p.a. and his brother Anthony £100 p.a., and his god-daughter Lucy Goodman daughter of S.A. Goodman (q.v.) £500. To Dorothea Forster of Botton in Northumberland he left his reversionary interest in the estates of the late Sir John Webb bart. deceased in trust to support his brother John Frankland (Sir John Webb of Great Canford Dorset, whose will was proved 09/05/1797, had made the contingent heir to his estates in the county of York 'my worthy friend and relative John Frankland now or late of the city of Durham' and John Frankland's heirs and assigns). Thomas Frankland's own residuary legatee was 'my nephew the son of my brother Anthony Frankland.'
