Biography

Owner of Plantation Recess in Berbice which was sold for creditors in 1816, and of Plantation Phoenix also in Berbice for which Hugh Bethune registered the enslaved people in 1818 and 1819, the latter on behalf of what appears to be 'Alexander Tulloh of London.'

  1. A Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Tulloh of St George's was buried aged 49 01/06/1826 at St Mary Newington. No will has yet been found for him. The will of Alexander Tulloch gentleman of St James Westminster, who was buried 29/05/1832 at St James Piccadilly aged 79 of Charles Street, was proved 20/07/1832. The will makes no mention of property in Berbice or elsewhere in the Caribbean. No connection with the Berbice slave-owner to date has thus been established with either man beyond the name and approximate time-period.
