Hector Mackenzie of Dunrobin, Berbice

Established Dunrobin in Berbice (British Guiana) before 1801, and left it to his brother John Mackenzie of New Brunswick: it was shown in 1818 as belonging to the estate of John Mackenzie, and was apparently sold shortly afterwards.

1. Will of Hector Mackenzee [sic] of the Plantation Dunrobin East Coast of this colony proprietor (made 06/10/1805) proved 22/03/1806. He left £1000 to his nephew John Grant on Plantation Hope & Experiment; to his 'good friend John Ross of Mahaicony his eldest daughter' £100; to his brother John Mackenzie of St Andrews parish New Brunswick each and every one of his five daughters £500; annuities of £20 p.a. each to his sisters Betty Christie and Jannet Mackenzie of [Golspie?] North Britain; to his mulatto daughter Rose £1000. He freed Nancy, Rose's mother, and directed that a house be built for her on Dunrobin for her to occupy with the 'negro girl' Charlotte whom he had made over to her. He gave £30 each to Ann, Margaret and Elizabeth Mackenzie, the children of his deceased sister Margaret. The rest of his estate was left to his brother John Mackenzie.
