Biography

Owner of Mullet Hall in St Andrew, Jamaica. Died between 1820 and 1823, apparently in Jamaica, having made his will some 15 years earlier in London. The estate appears to have been indebted, with the enslaved people being sold off after Robert Chamberlain's death by the mortgagee.

  1. Will of Robert Chamberlain [formerly] of [Gloucester Place] St Pancras [and Halliford] Middlesex [but late of Jamaica] [made in 1808] proved 09/05/1823. He left his wife Josepha an annuity of £300 p.a. over and above the £500 p.a. to which she was entitled under their marriage settlement of 1800; and he left his sister Mary an annuity of £200 p.a. He provided £5000 to each daughter if any, and left his residuary estate between his two sons Robert and James, failing whom to his sister Mary subject to a contingent legacy of £5000 to his mother-in-law. Among his executors were Henry Davidson and Aeneas Barkly.
