Biography

  1. Will of Charles Robinson late planter in Jamaica now of St Andrews Street Hertford Hertfordshire [made in 1791 with a codicil of 1792] proved 26/04/1794. In the will he said that he held a bond from William White of St Ann for £3571 8s 7d, for the sale of his moiety of an estate in St Ann called Cool Shade and 31 enslaved people. He left a series of monetary legacies of £50 each to friends and family, concentrated apparently in Rotherhithe, and £200 to William White, with the residue to his nieces and nephews.

Coolshade Estate [ Jamaica | St Ann ]

In his will proved in 1795 Charles Robinson said he held a bond from William White of St Ann for the sale of one moiety of Cool Shade in St Ann and 31 enslaved people. The linkage with the Coolshade estate in the Slave Registers is tentative but is supported by the presence of John Roebuck as mortgagee, who in other claims was also associated with William White.
