???? - 29th May 1838
Jean Marie Aquart was born c. 1808, St. Lucia
Marie Drivon remarried, to her cousin, a Mr. Girard, who managed the plantations in St Lucia belonging to her mother. In 1843 she moved to Louisiana.
The marriage contract between Jean Marie Aquart and Marie Louis Hieronime Drivon, dated 13/04/1836, gives some interesting details on the holdings of the Aquart family. Jean Marie owns 1/5 of 1/6 of the Reform Estate on the island of Bequia thanks to an inheritance from his paternal grandparents (Jean Marie Aquart and Marie Catherine Coulon). His 1/5 of the 1/6 is a result of his inheritance from his father Jean Baptiste Aquart, who presumably had 1/6 that is now divided again between his 5 children. Jean Marie also has 1/5 of 1/6 of the mortgage on the Mon Plaisir Estate in Grenada, also part of his inheritance from his paternal grandparents. He enters the marriage with a total of 137,927.15 livres, which are assumed to be French colonial livres (pounds). He was a resident of the parish of Gros Islet at the time the contract was made.
He died 29/05/1838, two years after the marriage, in his apartment at Le Carbet on the island of Martinique. He was buried in Castries. Marie gave birth to his daughter Marie Jeanne Aquart three months after his death.
We are grateful to Cathy Aquart and Philippe Clerc for assistance in compiling this entry.
