  1. Born Amsterdam, 08/06/1781, died Demerara, 15/03/1850. Husband of Johanna Maria Slengarde (born Demerara 1790, died Bad Godesberg 1854). M. J. Retemeyer was Receiver General of Demerara. He was also agent for a Dutch merchant firms, Van den Santheuvel, and by marriage he was brother-in-law to Daniel Boissevain, lead partner in Boissevain & Co.
