Owner of enslaved people in Westmoreland, Jamaica, from at least 1817 to 1832; not found in the Slave Compensation Records. Described as "of colour" in the slave register of 1817. Probably the Mary Porter, "a "free mulatto woman", who had a daughter Janet Stuart with the overseer of Sweet River pen, Peter Stuart. Janet was bequeathed £1,000 sterling in the will of Peter Stuart (written in 1802 and proved in 1804).
Assumed to be a different person to the Mary Porter, "of colour" who inherited two enslaved people from her father Robert Porter (he died before 1817).
