Biography

MP for Morpeth 1768-1774, son of Julines Beckford, father of Horace William Beckford, 3rd baron Pitt-Rivers.

  1. Will of Peter Beckford of Stepleton [sic] Dorset [made in 1810] proved 28/03/1811. Under the will he left his estates and enslaved people in Jamaica and elsewhere in the West Indies (his trustees included his cousin the Earl of Effingham), to pay a number of annuities and legacies, including: to his daughter Harriet, wife of Henry Seymour Esq. an annuity of £200 p.a. over and above her entitlement under his marriage settlement, 'which I beg her to accept'; and £60 p.a. to Signora Rosa Buggiani of Florence. Subject to these charges, he left his estates to his son Horace William Beckford for life.
