Deceased by the time of the 1817 Barbados Slave Register.

  1. The will of John Prettejohn merchant of St Michael Barbados proved in London 05/09/1833. The will was made in 1802 with a codicil of 1803. He left his estate called Constant and the enslaved people on it in trust to his wife for life and then to his son also named John, failing whom his daughter Charlotte, the wife of General Frederick Maitland. He had settled £2500 charged on his estate on his daughter and Maitland on their marriage.

The spelling of his name as Prettijohn in the Slave Register differs from that in the notes to the claim, Barbados 3649[B], where it is Prettejohn, TNA, T71/535, pp. 358-9.
