Slave-owner in Jamaica, owner of Hampton estate, and trustee and executor of Eliza Mary Tharp (owner of Blue Hole in Hanover, Jamaica, d. 1831), and identified in her will as the nephew of her husband. Benjamin Haughton Tharp died in 1834 in transit to Britain. He was the son of William Tharp (1762-1809) (q.v.) and brother of John Tharp VII and William Tharp of Heavitree, Devon.
