William Morris Frye born Newton

Tenant-for-life of Frye's in Antigua, on which the enslaved people were registered in his name in 1817. He had inherited the estate in 1801 from his uncle Rowland Frye (q.v.).

1. Will of William Morris Frye heretofore called Newton of Sloane Street Knightsbridge Middlesex proved 04/01/1821. In the will he described himself as the only surviving son and heir at law of Elizabeth Newton the widow of Colonel William Newton and the only surviving nephew of Rowland Frye of Warfield and grand-nephew and heir at law of William Frye of Wallington and also of Rowland Frye of the same place deceased. His will is confusing and possibly confused, but appears to leave his Antiguan property in trust (subject to the estates of his sister Elizabeth Frances Newton (q.v., under Elizabeth France Spencer nee Newton) and Archibald Cochran) to support Mary Amelia Gladstanes, the daughter of George Gladstanes of Salisbury Street London, and Gladstanes widow Sophia Charlotte Gladstanes. One of his trustees was Richard Leigh Spencer. In a codicil he recorded the marriage of his sister to Henry Leigh Spencer.
