Biography

Slave-owner in Jamaica, apparently resident.

  1. Will of Roger Dobson planter of Trelawny [ made in 1827] proved 18/11/1830. In the will he said that application had been made to the owner in England of a 'mulatto woman' Ann Robertson and her son Thomas Dobson, the natural son of Roger Dobson, and he instructed his executors to follow through on their manumission: he set aside £300 currency for this purpose. He left his reputed daughter Jane Dobson his household effects and land in Falmouth Jamaica, and he left further land to her two 'brown children', Christopher Dobson and Thomas Roger Dobson; he left his apparel to his two natural sons, Joseph Dobson and Thomas Dobson. He left an annuity of £20 p.a to William Dobson, a natural son of his [the testator's] brother Thomas.
