William Woodley of Eccles, Norfolk

Trustees for William Woodley were awarded the compensation for the Greenland estate on St Kitts. William Woodley of Eccles was in turn the trustee and executor of the will of William Woodley MP (q.v.), a kinsman and possibly a cousin.

1. Will of William Woodley of Eccles Norfolk proved 15/05/1807. Under the will he left his estate, including property and enslaved people in St Kitts, in trust for his natural son John Woodley for life, and in default of issue then to his natural daughter Mary, then living with him, and then to his godson, whom he identified as William Woodley of St Christopher (q.v. under William Woodley Lt-Governor of Berbice) son of William Woodley late Governor of that island (q.v., under William Woodley MP). He left an annuity to Mrs Mary Gates, who was living with him. In a series of codicils (the last dated 1802) he recorded the death of his natural son John in St Croix, leaving two natural children by a woman of colour, William and Lucretia, for whom William Woodley provided £500 each, and diverted his estate to his daughter Mary Woodley, then Mary Cerjat, and her son.
