Biography

Son of John Whyte Melville (d. 1813) who was the heir of his cousin Robert Melville (q.v.), and brother of John Whyte Melville (q.v.).

  1. The will - in the form of a memorandum dated 26/03/1817 - of Robert Whyte Melville was registered in Edinburgh 04/07/1818 and proved in London 18/07/1818. In it, Melville said he was about to go abroad, and left his estate to his brother [unnamed] subject to legacies of £2000 each to his sisters Elizabeth, Louisa, Jane and Mrs Jackson.
