Slave-owner of Jamaica, dying in England in 1819 with an outside family in Jamaica.

  1. William Dormer of Church Oakley County of Southampton by his will made 04/04/1816 in and proved 20/02/1819 left £100 to Richard Dormer the natural son of his brother (also Richard),and £20 each to Mrs Eliza Dormer of Bristol and Mrs Mary Knight of Church Oakley for mourning with the remainder of his estate in England to his brother Thomas Dormer mariner and his sister Mary Wells 'of this parish. He gave his god-daughter Mary Bown [sic] of Portland Jamaica £100; and £10 p.a. and two 'negroes' Lucy and Billy to Eliza Dormer 'a free Black woman' of St George Jamaica for life and then to his [William Dormer the elder's] son William Dormer of Portland. He left to his 'natural son' William Dormer 'of the parish of Jamaica' [presumably the same man] the remainder of his property in Jamaica.
