Thomas Lowthian

Attorney on Broom Hall in Demerara in 1817, nephew of Thomas Bond of Lancaster (q.v.) and minor beneficiary under the latter's will (proved in 1817), as well as contingent legatee of some land in England. Son of Mary Lowthian nee Bond, sister of Thomas Bond of Lancaster, and Isaac Lowthian of Newbiggin. Nothing further of him has been traced to date.

1. The will of Thomas Bond Esq. dated 22/04/1817 is in the Lancashire Archives. Under the will, the primary beneficiary was his nephew John Bond, to whom he left 1/4th of Broom Hall Plantation in Demerary with the 'stock, negroes etc.' upon it and the Lancaster plantation in Berbice. Thomas Lowthian's mother Mary, Thomas Bond's sister, was left an annuity of £60 p.a. while Thomas Lowthian himself 'nephew of Demeraray' was left £100 to be inherited by his lawful issue as well as contingent legatee of land at 'Lousey Brook Meadow and Abbots Close' now in the possession of the Earl of Balcarres.
