Biography

Administration of the will of Mary Lee Pond of the Island of Montserrat [made in 1800] was granted 26/07/1808. She left £500 in trust (her trustees were Samuel Turner of the City of London and Richard Simmons Collector of Customs in Montserrat) for her god-daughter Margaret Wyke, wife of Edward Byam Wyke of this island; should her estate not have sufficient gold and silver to fund this, she instructed that the balance be raised from the rent or hire of her slaves. Her residuary heir was Mary Mason or Morson of Antigua widow for life and then the latter's children. In a codicil made in London, apparently in 1803 but attested in 1808, when she was given as of Fitzroy House, Fitzroy Square, New Road, she left £100 to her brother's natural daughter Polline [sic].
