Hon. John Rodon

Resident slave-owner in Jamaica, his will begin proved there in 1808 although it was not proved in London until 1829.

1. Will of John Rodon of St Catherine Jamaica proved in London 13/02/1829. He left: £1000 to his daughter Elizabeth Stewart, wife of Charles Stewart now or late of Bourhill near Perth now or late Captain in the British Army; £1000 currency to his sister Mrs Rachel Burton; and £500 currency to Miss Susanna Rennalls and £50 to each of her sisters and to Dr John Powell Rennalls for mourning. He acquitted his partner James Hodge Byles of any liability to him. He left his the rest of his property to his wife for life and then to the children of 'my relation George Rodon.' He provided that his executors convey to 'Young William Byam' all 'negroes and stock I may have bought for his estate upon his coming to a settlement with my Executors.'
