Biography

  1. Will of Thomas King, planter of Flask Walk Chelsea in the parish of St George Hanover Square [made in November 1803] proved 07/09/1804. in the will he rehearsed the will of William King dated 02/02/1800 in which William King left to him [Thomas King] and his [Thomas King's] sister Mary Louch the wife of Richard Louch of Robertsbridge the Kingsland estate [and the enslaved people on it]. He himself ordered his half to be sold, and the proceeds combined with his other property to give the income to his wife Frances for life, subject to annuities [possibly bequeathed by William] of £200 p.a. to his nephew James Griffith King and £50 p.a. to his sister in law Frances Lechmere of Chelsea. After his wife's death half of the capital was to go to James Griffith King and half to whoever Frances should deem appropriate. He gave her the option of retaining the estate.
