Biography

East India Co. man, son of James Fraser of Gorthleck or Gorthlick (q.v.), from whom he inherited the Berricoa estate and the enslaved people attached to it on Dominica. The estate appears to have been sold before 1820, to Andrew Colvile.

  1. Will of Thomas Fraser in the civil service of the HEIC of Gorthleck [made in 1815 with a codicil of 1822] proved 08/03/1824. Failing his own male heirs, his residuary heir was his brother James Bristow Fraser writer in Edinburgh, to whom he left his property including estates in Scotland and the plantation on Dominica known as Berriacoud [sic] which had belonged to his uncle Simon Fraser and descended to his [the testator's] father James Fraser.
