1750 - ????
Reportedly of Blackmoor, Barbados - an estate not yet traced by LBS. The History of Parliament entry for his son Sir Codrington Edmund Carrington, MP for St Mawes 1826-1831, says: 'His father was born in Bridgetown in 1749, educated at Eton and Cambridge, but apparently succeeded to the Barbados estates of an uncle and returned to the West Indies. No trace has been found of Codrington senior’s ordinations or benefices, though his style of Rev. is confirmed by the memorial inscription in St. Michael’s, Chenies, Buckinghamshire, to his widow; the date of his death is unknown.'

Owner
'The Rev. Codrington Carrington, of Llangattock, is probably identical with the Codrington Carrington, owner of The Chapel, Barbados, whose daughter, Catherine, married Major Charles Frederick Napier, R.A. This supposition seems borne out by the fact that Henry Carrington (of Caius), Dean of Bocking, is described in his obituary notices as cousin of Lord Napier, of Magdala. (St John's Coll. Adm., IV; Eton Coll. Reg.)' |
