Biography

Slave-owner in Port Royal, Jamaica, in 1817 when a minor. His "Father in Law" and natural guardian was Thomas Jackson.

  1. William Hoyes, son of William and Mary Renier Cuming [sic], born 14/04/1804 and baptised 20/05/1804 in St Catherine, Jamaica. His father was a carpenter and the parents married in St Catherine, 23/09/1802. William Cuming had died by 1804 when Mary Renier Cuming, widow, married John Hoyes. Mary was widowed again when she married Thomas Jackson, at some point before 1817.
