Harry Webb

Slave-owner and probably lawyer given his ties to the Temple in London, brother of Nathaniel Webb of Montserrat (q.v.) and uncle of Nathaniel Webb (q.v.). Attorney-General of the Leeward Islands 1754, then resigning his seat [and presumably office] to reside in England. He was probably the Harry Webb who married Margaret Baijer nee Nicholls, the widow of Bastian Otto Baijer, in Antigua in 1746.

1. Will of Harry Webb [made in 1783] proved 30/03/1786. He asked his body be carried to Taunton and buried in the family vault there. He had, he said an annuity of £200 p.a. charged on all the estates of Nathaniel Gilbert the elder valued a few years previously at £30,000, and he instructed his executors to pursue arrears and the pro rata amount of the next scheduled payment due at his death, as was done, he said, with is wife's similar annuity of £200 p.a on the same estates. He had £6500 on bond owed to him by John Halliday and John Delap Halliday [this must have been from his sale to them of the Lucas' estate], which amount he left among relatives including his sister Ann Stone, his nephew William Webb and his nephew Joseph Jeffries and their respective families. He had a further £1000 bond of Robert Gray late of Antigua for money he had lent to Gray when he [Webb] had been in Antigua, to complete the purchase of a settled plantation.
