Biography

Anglican clergyman and inheritor of enslaved people in Barbados from his father, also named William Gibbes Straghan (q.v.).

Will of Rev. William Gibbes Straghan [formerly of Demerara but now] of Stanwick Northants [but at Paris] [made in 1825] proved 12/10/1836. He left his property to his wife Frances Elizabeth and his two daughters. His will makes no mention of slave-property.

Colin Campbell Lloyd (née Baillie)

1781 - 1830

Member of the Baillie of Dochfour family who had numerous mercantile connections in the West Indies. The compensation for Baillie's Bacolet in Grenada was awarded to the trustees of her marriage settlement. Grand-daughter of Colin Roy Campbell of Glenmure. Apparently a victim of the quack doctor John St John Lang of Harley Street in 1830.
