John Lagier Lamotte of Wanstead, Essex

John Lagier Lamotte was among 23 purchasers who were parties to a deed of 1774 under which Augustin Gwyn (q.v.) sold annuities secured on Mount Charles and Middleton to refinance his purchase of Mount Charles and his development of Middleton.

1. Will of John Lagier Lamotte the elder of Wanstead Essex [made in 1790] proved 05/10/1792. He left in trust (his trustees were his son John Lagier Lamotte junior of Basildon and James Cazenove): an annuity or rent charge up to the year 1800 in respect of his leasehold property at 15 Devonshire Street which [it is unclear whether this was the annuity or the leasehold] he had given up to his son John Lagier Lamotte junior; an annuity of £50 p.a on the life of Stephen Le Bas now or late of Henley in Arden in Warwickshire secured on the estates of John Irish on St Kitts; and two several annuities of £100 p.a. each payable from the estates of Augustin Gwyn on Jamaica 'and otherwise secured', one on the lives of his wife Louisa and grand-daughter Lucy (the son of John Lagier Lamotte junior), the other for the lives of his daughter Catherine Lamotte and another grand-daughter Mary Lamotte; and other annuities totalling £60 p.a. together with his his residuary estate, all to fund an annuity of £40 p.a. to Catherine Lamotte and the remainder to his wife for her life, when his estate (after legacies of £400 each to his son and one of his daughters, of British annuities to his grand-daughter Marianne, the wife of James Cazenove, and of the two Jamaica annuities to his son) was to be split three ways among his children (his third child was Louisa Du Boulay).
