Hon. Thomas Bladen Capel

Son of 4th Earl of Essex and Harriet Bladen, Admiral of the Blue, awarded the compensation for three enslaved people in St Elizabeth Jamaica, probably in right of his wife.

1. Born Mayfair c. 1777. Married Harriet Catherine, daughter of Francis George Smyth (q.v.), in 1816; buried  12/03/1853, will proven 29/03/1853. His wife was the beneficiary of the will of Joseph Royall (q.v.), and the three enslaved people under the award in St Elizabeth do not represent the full extent of the couple's interest in slavery. Dame Harriet Catherine Capel left effects of £20,000 (resworn from £18,000) on her death in 1866.
