Biography

Widow first of a man named Matthews and then of Hon. John Black (q.v.). The couple were shown as owners of the Barataria estate in Trindiad in 1813 and 1819, when she was given as Bona Clotilda Black.

  1. John Black was connected with the Black family of Belfast, wine merchants and slave-owners in Grenada, and the family owned an estate in Grenada by 1779 and another in Trinidad by the end of the century, according to the Northern Ireland Public Record Office.
