Biography

Eldest son of James Hewitt Massy-Dawson (q.v.), a Captain in the 14th Light Dragoons, inherited a share of Prospect Pen and Pembroke Hall estates from his mother Eliza Jane Dennis.

  1. Born 02/05/1802 in Marylebone, Westminster, to James Hewitt Massy-Dawson and Eliza Jane Dennis.

  2. Graduated from Exeter College, Oxford, 02/05/1821 and became a Captain in the 14th Light Dragoons. Died, unmarried, 09/07/1837.

  3. There is a portrait of Captain James Massy-Dawson in the Royal Collection.

Ballynacourte was the seat of the Massy-Dawsons in the C18th and C19th; occupied by J. H. Massy Dawson in 1837 and by the Reverend John M. Dawson in the early 1850s.
