Samson Senhouse

Awarded the compensation with Sir Humphrey Fleming Senhouse (q.v.) as executors of Elizabeth Ward Senhouse (q.v.) for two enslaved people on Barbados.

1. Almost certainly Samson Senhouse, although given as Samuel Stenhouse in the Parliamentary Papers. If so, then son of Lieutenant William Senhouse RN (1741-1800), surveyor-general of Barbados and the Leeward Islands, and Elizabeth Wood, daughter of Samson Wood, speaker of Barbados Assembly; grandson of Humphrey Senhouse of Netherhall Cumberland. Samson Senhouse aged 74 Landed proprietor born Barbados was living at Ponsonby Cumberland in 1851 with wife Mary aged 76 born Middlesex. Death of Samson Senhouse registered Whitehaven Cumberland Q2 1855.

T71/900 Barbados no. 5297 claim by Mrs Elizabeth Ward [sic] Senhouse, of Watford, Hertfordshire, owner-in-fee (by E. H. Senhouse of Christ Church as her attorney). Mrs Elizabeth W. Senhouse subsequently died.
