Biography

William Bruce Almon, physician and politician of Nova Scotia, co-awardee with his brother Mather Byles Almon, brother-in-law James William Johnston and Lewis Johnston (all q.v.), probably as executors of John Johnson (q.v.).

  1. Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, 25/10/1784 to William James Almon and Rebecca Byles. Attended Edinburgh University 1806-1809 then returned to Nova Scotia where he worked as a doctor. Married Laleah Peyton Johnston in Nova Scotia, 29/01/1814. Appointed to the Legislative Council in 1838. Died 12/07/1840 of typhus, age 52.
