William Ottley of Hengrave

St Kitts slave-owner, father of William of St Kitts and Cambridge; Drewry Ottley of Marylebone; Martha Fleming Ottley and Sarah Willett Ottley (each of whom q.v.).

1. Will of William Ottley of Hengrave proved 16/11/1775. Under the will he left his estate, including land and enslaved people on St Kitts, in trust (his trustees were his son-in-law Gilbert Francklyn of the island of Tobago, William Beach of St Kitts and Hutchinson Mure of Great Saxham Suffolk), under which he left: his estate at Palmetto Point to his son William for life with remainder to William's children by any wife except the woman with whom he was then living, Mary Burford or Gurford, and then to his son Drewry Ottley and then to his daughters; and his estate at St Mary Cayon to Drewry Ottley for life and then to William (with the same proviso) and then to his daughters.
