Biography

London West India merchant, brother and partner of David Webster (q.v.). On James Webster's death in 1789, he left the bulk of his estate to his half-nephew David Wedderburn, on condition that David Wedderburn change his name to David Webster (which he did: q.v., under David Webster II born Wedderburn).
