Margaret Waller formerly Seton (née Findlater)

Wife of Rev. Edmund Waller (q.v.), executrix and widow of James Seton (q.v., from whom she appears to have inherited the Dunfermline estate on Grenada and the enslaved people attached to it), and daughter and heiress of Rev. John Findlater (q.v.).

1. Will of Margaret Waller, formerly Seton, wife of Fordingbridge Hampshire, proved 03/07/1848. In the will she left the money she had inherited from her father to her daughter Eglinton and to the trustees of the marriage settlement of her other daughter Catherine with Rev. John Coventry. [The two daughters were from her first marriage]. Her daughter Eglinton Seton married Joah Bates Wakefield, a lawyer who appears to have played a role in the early days of the Wellington colony in New Zealand (LBS has not established what if any relationship he had to the colonial ideologist Edward Gibbon Wakefield and the latter's brothers William Hayward Wakefield and Arthur Wakefield, better known colonists in New Zealand with entries in the ODNB) and later became a clergyman.
